OECD 218: Sediment-water chironomid toxicity (spiked sediment)
The OECD 218: Sediment-water Chironomid Toxicity Using Spiked Sediment Study assesses the effect of your chemical on sediment-dwelling chironomus (midge) larvae. Chironomid larvae are exposed to a water-sediment system that has been spiked with the test chemical. Following this, emergence, development and behavior are observed for a period of up to 28 days (C. riparius, C. yoshimatsui) or 65 days (C. tentans). Using this test, a ratio of substance concentration to reduction chironomid emergence and survival is determined.
